WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.—RSR Motorsports claimed fourth and ninth in the ST class during Saturday’s GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Watkins Glen, propelling the No. 197 Honda Civic Si forward in the team championship.

Corey Fergus and Owen Trinkler finished fourth in the No. 197 Cruise America/Thor Motor Coach Honda, a memorable debut for their new Civic. The finish gave the duo a boost in team points, jumping from 15th to eighth.

“It was a great weekend for the team, and it was a good debut for our new Honda, which proved to be quite a good race car,” said Fergus, who led the ST class for his entire stint after starting from pole. “It was a well-deserved weekend for RSR. The guys have been working really hard, and all the credit goes to the team. They gave Owen and me an easy car to drive.”

“It was a decent run for us, and it has put us back in the championship. We’ve still got five races to go, and there’s a lot to be done before the end of the season,” says Trinkler.

Sarah Cattaneo and Chris Puskar handed RSR Motorsports another top ten, finishing ninth in the No. 198 Honda Civic Si. The result comes on the heels of the 11th that they earned at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago.

“The team has worked so hard to get these cars to where they are,” Cattaneo says. “The last two races have just been fantastic. They’ve brought the cars along in such a short period of time. Watkins Glen is a fabulous track, even though the weather made it nerve wracking: we were all holding our breath in the pits. It was a lot of fun, though.”

“We’ve really come a long way in getting the cars developed,” says Puskar. “There’s not a team that works harder than RSR and Randy Smalley is 100 percent committed. It’s a pleasure to be a part of it, and I think the results we’re seeing now show how things are coming together.”

Tom Dyer and Andrew Novich finished 17th in the No. 196 US LED/Thor Motor Coach Honda Civic Si, working their way forward after starting the race at the back of the grid. They ran as high as tenth at one point, but a flat tire added to their challenges.
